Maple Syrups Nutritional Value

Maple syrup is best bought pure to enable you to enjoy its nutrients.  The sap is generally collected in March and April since it is during the spring season that the maple trees are dormant, meaning the sap is only up to 5% solid.  Therefore, more of the liquid sap will be collected.  The components that can be found in the sap are minerals like calcium and potassium, organic acids, amino compounds, vitamins and phenolicompounds.

A concentrated maple syrup (or even Canadian maple butter) will be able to give you 167 calories of energy, 699 kilojoules of energy, 43 grams of carbohydrates, 7 milligrams of sodium and 117 mg of potassium for every 50 ml serving.  It is absent of fats and proteins.  The nutrition percentages for the recommended daily serving are 6% Calcium, 6% Thiamin, 5% Iron, 2% Magnesium and 2% Riboflavin.

Maple syrup and white cane sugar both have 50 calories per tablespoon.  However, it also contains calcium, thiamin and iron.  Every tablespoon of maples syrup has 21mg calcium, 35m potassium, 2mg sodium, traces of B vitamins and little amounts of phosphorus and iron.
